Job Interview - Jessops

Hi, first of all GOOD LUCK....

Do not wear jeans as said by many, at the very least try to match what the staff wear...not jeans!! if you feel daft wearing a tie then a smart plain open shirt will do, make sure its a plain colour and quite light with it.

questions they may ask:
what would you do if a customer comes back in and is not happy with product?

how would you feel if you were with a customer and you were due to finish?

what would you do if a colleague said something racist?

what do you know about photography?

imagine you are the most senior person in the shop, how would you deal with an irate customer?

Have you ever worked as a team?

stuff like that for shop work....

Thanks, has helped!

Hopefully they aren't requiring expert knowledge, I know I've applied to a photography retailer but not all of their products are aimed at a niche proffesional market. As I'm eager to learn more and expand my knowledge of photography, which this job would almost certainly bring.

Anymore tips guys? Got my outfit sorted, suiting up :) (minus the blazer):p

Ok Ok, reconsidering my clothing choice :p

Will wear a shirt, smart trousers and smart shoes.

Bit of a longshot but, any here worked for jessops or been for an interview before?

I worked at Jessops in Guernsey for about 6 months, the interview was a case of.

"Do you have any previous sales experience?"

"Do you have any knowledge of photography / cameras?"

"How much do you expect to earn?"

Was really informal and crap tbh, so was the company but hey ho, working in a private wealth management firm now.

Nice to have someone who's worked there :)

Did you have an extensive knowledge of photography before you worked there?

As it's only part time I doubt they'll be discussing wages with me. Happy with minimum wage, as i'd only be sitting at home playing COD if I didn't get the job.

Not an extensive knowledge by any means, but I knew the fundamentals. It's more about knowing the products inside out so that you suggest something that meets the customers needs.

When knowledgable people come in they are usually after something specific so they know what they are after, so you knowledge doesn't need to run to deep or be too extensive.

Thanks for the reassurance.

Hopefully my knowledge will be sufficient. Really eager to learn more, i'll get this point across in the interview :)

Assure them you won't flash yourself to the customers, don't want any indecent exposure charges.

Orientate yourself well, turn up sharp and they should get the picture.

Alright, enough is enough now :) I should really focus and develop my coursework.

Know how to turn on a digital camera? Know how to stick it on auto and take a picture? Can read?

2 out of the 3 are preferred, one is more than likely needed but a job at jessops can be had with none.

Had to go in there and have been insulted by the lack of knowledge by all the staff, so camera know how isnt needed, same with working at the apple store or game....

Billions of megapixels are only necessary if you require large format prints. In most cases, the quality of the lens will have a bigger impact.

I had a interview with my local Jessops shop but it wasn't really an interview.
"What do you know about jessops?" and "Who do you prefer, Canon or Nikon?" :o

I got the job, don't particularly like it even if I do love photography.

If you do get the job explain to them that their memory pricing is still in the past. The distant past.
