Job Interview/Presentation *HELP* (Update I GOT THE JOB)

Hi All im after a bit of advise or input of you guys below is the Job Discription of a Job I've applied for and been given an interview it's at a college:

Senior IT Network Engineer

An introduction:

This is a newly established role in our IT Team. We see this role as essential to drive forward our

College’s IT strategy and ensure our students and staff have the very best level of IT service and support.

This is a real career opportunity to participate in ‘whole life cycle’ of a full infrastructure refresh and actively contribute to the development and implementation of a new IT strategy for our College. You will have the drive, ambition and skills to take a key role in the design and implementation of innovative and efficient solutions to carry the strategy forwards.

Your Priorities:

Your key priority will be to ensure smooth running of the current environment, while working with the Head of IT & Network Systems and key suppliers to plan initiatives to drive the environment to a position where it is fit for the future. You will then participate in the delivery of those plans.

In the Letter i got for the interview it's states the below:

As part of the selection process you are required to prepare a 10 minute presentation for delivery to a panel on the following:

Talk us through a technical project that you feel is relevant to the key responsibilites of this role.
We are interested in the role you played and what you learned as a result of the project.

I have also to email the 10 Min presantation to them prior to the interview day, so Im think a nice power point slide thingy but what im asking you guys for is help with what to present? My understanding is that it seems their IT and Network is outdated and they are wanting me or whoever gets the job to come up with a plan of action design it and then assit in implimenting the new kit etc? aswell as maintaine the current network?

What would be the best thing I could do for my presentation?
Thanks for reading this and thanks in advance for you help

Hard to say really, is there a list of responsibilites for the role or is that all you got?

Best thing might be to talk about how you up-graded the current network you work with and how it benefits the company etc.

Thanks, thats all there was, I currently work for a company that im a Senior Network Engineer for I go to customer sites and basicly install anything IT related as well as support networks etc, so I have lots of experiance in this area already but as im part of a team im only one part of a bunch of engineers that do projects as big as a full network upgrades.

I can design and plan this sort of thing no problem but without me knowing what they have already I dare't come up with what i believe to be the future of there IT and they already have it in place and me look a fool.

I was an IT apprentice in a large college. The network team were looking for a project manager and there was a presentation as part of the interview. Basically the presentation is a check to see that you know what you are talking about, so if you go in there with a pie in the sky idea they may think its a load of hogwash. It's also to see what you're like, if you do the presentation and it's really boring and badly done then they might think, we don't want this guy in our office.

Play it safe with networking ideas but make the presentation snappy and interesting, imo.

cheers boys.... I just did a Powerpoint thingy of some technical Scenarios, the 1 hour written exam was modarate too and the interview was good think I answerd pretty well.

must have been for them to offer me the job :-)
