Job Interview

I've worked for B&Q.

The only machinery i'm aware of that you'll use is the timber cutter. You won't be trained to use that for upto a year. Also the wave is fun to drive around on but again, it'll take you a year for them to train you. You won't be doing much building as normally the night crew will do that when they are changing the displays etc overnight.

It's one of these companies which will ask you to sweat blood for them but won't give you a damn thing in return.

Only trade work Mon-Fri (I think) so you won't need to work weekends unless your filling in for other departments.

Night crew, that's me. :) (Hopefully)

Nothing can be worse than my old job. Seriously. :(

Ahh night crew. The Freaks :)

That's what we used to call them. One guy looked like one of those aliens with a big head from Total Recall.

And night shifts are boring as hell. Take your iPod (or equivalent)

:p

Spot on my man.

When working in the call centre, I would put a customer on hold whilst I call the store.

Store line is engaged so I wait for a min.

Spend about ten minutes just looking round me wondering "It's quietened down a lot" before realising the cust is still on hold. :p

Lmao thats quality

Almost forgot to update. :)

Went pretty well I thought. Answered all the questions quite well and like to think I made a good impression.

They have awesome rooms upstairs for the staff. :p

The one I was waiting in had a 42" Sammy LCD, Bluray player and Freesat.

I wish you luck.

I have recently found employment after abit of a struggle. It's with an agency I admit but it's better than nothing, and certainly something to put on my CV.

Cheers

The one in Newry so about 10 mins away and right beside a McDonalds, Halfords and OcUK Competitor.

What more could you want? :p

A cousin works in the Newry one. What is it with Halfords and other being near B&Qs, the one in Lurgan is the same. Although the Lurgan one has the Chuck wagon, which is mighty.

Good job skippi.

I had my telephone interview today and it went pretty well I guess. Damn competency-based questions are a right pain in the arse though. Graduate jobs have so many damn stages too.

Congrats, don't expect much though :)

I worked in B&Q for approx 1.5 years whilst at uni and be prepared to work like an animal with absolutely no recognition at all. I happened to work across Tills/Returns/Showrooms/Decor(All Areas)/Trade and gardening. The only thing that made it bearable was I made a number of good friends there. The managers were pretty much tossers.

Use this job to bring in some cash but don't stop looking for anything better. It astounded me the number of people who didn't mind staying there for years.

Lets just say I took a huge leap up from B&Q to BMW :D
A bit of Bloc Party and I'll be content and life will be good again. :)
Good choice in music my man, good choice :)

^^MKS, what company? They do indeed!

good luck fella, i had a telephone interview yesterday that seemed to go very well, feedback from it confirms it.
just got to wait till friday to confirm a face to face next week!
