JUst to make it plain: I DO NOT PLAN TO LEAVE SCHOOL! I HAVE THE FULL INTENTION TO GO TO UNI

ok now thats over and done with,

how much could i earn off my gcse's, i got an A* in all 3 sciences, maths, DT, A in Fench and B's in English Spanish and RS, also an A in an AD-maths FSMQ, (no A* available) which is kinda between Alevel and GCSE

can anyon name any well paying jobs that i could do if i left at this point (purely oput of interest)

mcdonalds , kfc , maybe asda on the tills.

you could try to be an officer in the army.

GCSE's dont really mean crap you cant just walk in to a good paying job with them.

McDonalds or other fast food stores? Working in retail?

The quality of your GCSEs are really not going to matter for most jobs as youll be down the bottom anyway so expect them only to want the standard 5 A-Cs including Maths, English and Science I guess...

Pretty obvious answer - you earn pretty much just better than minimum wage on your GCSEs - its a worry that you need to ask really - but ultimately it shows how poor education is nowadays Im afraid IMHO...

this tbh. Barely any good jobs at the moment for those qualifications, GCSE's are purely the stepping stones to a-level, much like a-levels are purely the stepping stone for univsersity. The best you could hope for would be an "office job" or perhaps a cashier job in a bank given your maths qualifications

Without work experience or a marketable and provable skill you'd be hard pressed to find a 'good' paying job based upon good GCSE grades along in my opinion.

Yep, thats about it.

GCSE's dont really mean anything on their own.
You got good grades, though its much better with A level grades, then then a degree of some description.

Get them, get some experience, then you start earning money.

Basically you either go to uni and hope to come out relatively soon into a well paying job, or you start at the bottom after GCSEs and hope to get to a similar stage by work experience instead. At 16, you're at the bottom. That's not to say you can't earn enough money, you can certainly take home enough to amuse yourself and save some, just not 'well paying' in the £20k plus way.

Whichever way you choose is up to you, I've done alright without going to uni (and without taking GCSE's even, but that's another story), it can work. By the same token people come out of uni and struggle horribly for years sometimes. I think it's more about the person than the education. I'm not denying I've often wished I had more in the way of academic qualifications though. I'm not sure I'd do it the same way if I lived my life over again.

oh ive had pleanty of work experiance and all sorts pf skills (though some are not office related :p ) im in the second week of work for a company developing wireles USB (whish is crap btw and it seems all the employees have been brainwashed, they think its the "next big thing" when they can transmit video at 10fps without sound) anyway also a week with a graphical design company etc. i was just interested,

PS: cant you work in tescos etc without qualifications?

Why would Tescos have you without basic numeracy/communication skills? Thats all the GCSEs are especially when theres so few jobs out there...

GCSE's aren't too bad. Some retail work pays reasonably and has opportunities to progress 'higher-up'.

A degree is much more useful though, and will probably allow you to decide exactly what area of business you want to go into.

I would like to add that I got into a well-paid retail job on mock GCSE results alone :)
