Joining avi files?

I have some avi files that I'd like to join to create one file with.

None of my video editing software will do it. I haven't tried WMM, and I don't want to as I want to retain the current quality of the files, and don't want WMV at the end of it.
Some of the software I've tried only pulls in the audio part of it, and another says it doesn't understand the audio track, so can't import it.

Confusing.

As far as I know I have the codecs, as I can watch and listen the files. Unless I need codecs that work with the editing programs for editing purposes...I haven't actually looked into if I have them for editing.

Not too sure where to look for that either.

Virtual Dub should be able to do it

Thanks for the idea, after downloading and running it I have found my problem.

I only have player codecs, no editing codecs, as it came back with an error saying I don't have a divX codec, and that the ones for watching in Media Player etc. don't work for it. :)

Looks like I'll have to find some editing ones.

Download the K-Lite codec pack and that'll sort you out
