Jolt - Kate Beckinsale does John Wick (kind of) - July 2021

Hi All,

Kate Beckinsale stars alongside a fairly decent A-list cast in what looks to be a kind of John Wick-ish style film from Amazon.


I really like Kate so I'll be watching this regardless of how good/bad it looks but I'm starting to get a little weary of the constant "The look/style of John Wick" knock-off's being pumped out of Hollywood.
 
Tbf to Beckinsale, she's never shied aware from action roles, also it feels as though any action movie now is automatically compared to John Wick, folks forget we had action before? Not a dig at you @ianh just a general observation, it's almost become a lazy way to describe any action flick slightly better looking than the norm.

John Wick caused a well needed resurgence of well choreographed action as it was a quite stale and dull prior, was literally a movie that came out of nowhere and took most of us by surprise.

It wasn’t even going to be called John Wick, Keanu kept calling it that in all the interviews he was doing so they changed the name!

Yea, huge guys bouncing about as she those the weakest punches. The difference here is Keanu and the Director put in the big time work to come up with a fighting style that looks like JW is actually able to pull moves off to use his bodyweight etc to beat guys down, that's why it works. I just will never see how anyone can believe a slender woman can just go toe to toe with a well built man.
If ya want to see it done well just watch Atomic Blonde, the same director as Wick.

I was going to say exactly that. This looks ok but I'll bet it doesn't have anything on JW.
 
Lol, 50 year old woman doing martial arts and kicking ass. I predict it will gain a solid 5.5 rating on IMDB. I'll revisit if it gets a 7 or above.

Underworld without the vampire or the hubby director?

UW the first one was not bad (although Bill N hammed it up without being anything like coming across as an aristocrat).
