Just thought I'd share some video from a relatively little known, but extremely talented fellow I've had the pleasure of seeing live quite regularly. I'm sure I've mentioned him a few times before.

Footage from webstock, lincoln, UK has been uploaded. It's top of the news pages on his official website here: http://www.jongomm.com/news.html

So it doesn't get lost when the news page gets updated I've posted the link to the video too.

There's about an hour and a half of it. Not had time to see much yet but I've never seen him play a bad gig. Enjoy!

Yep - lots of regular gigs anywhere within an hours drive of Leeds. Plus a few further afield. He keeps himself busy.

Seen a lot of great guitarists - Tommy Emmanuel - Andy McKee - Nick Harper - Erik Mongrain - Newton Faulkner (well he's better than me :p). Jon certainly belongs in the same league. Maybe towards the top end.

He is a fantastic guitar player, this being my favourite of his:

The opening sequence is beyond catchy. :p

I don't know that I'd post him in league with some of the guitarists listed above though... Although, I played a couple of shows with Erik Mongrain and watching him after my set was one of the most boring experiences of my life. :p

The Mongrain gig I saw was pretty interesting, if only because he kept getting shocks off electrical equipment and I was wondering if he was going to make it out of there alive.

He plays beautifully but I think he's a much better guitarist than he is a composer. There wasn't really anything I'd want to buy on CD in the set.

You didn't see him in Exeter did you? I played support for him at a gig at the Phoenix in Exeter, and he had exactly the same problem. :p I'll assume that you weren't at that one judging by your comments about Leeds and what not, but I'm amazed he didn't have it sorted by then. :/

You're right about his composition style, there just is not melody to what he does. If you compare his composition with that of Tommy Emmanuel, there is just simply no comparison. Tommy's songs (I know a song has to have lyrics, but Tommy's instrumental music just sounds so song like) are just caked with melody, more than you could shake a stick at, and melody is what I love about music. Erik's compositions just don't have any melody (and I mean any)... Good luck trying to sing any of his pieces on the way home. :p

That being said, AirTap was absolutely fantastic. ;)

Nope. Saw him in Sheffield. Weird gig. He couldn't connect to the PA system and he ended up playing through his monitors.
