Joystick Connection?

Ok, stupid question coming up (possibly, not sure!). I have recently bought a new PC, and have been playing loads of FPS etc that use the keyboard. However I have just bought a game that would help if I used a joystick, so I went round the back of my PC to plug it in, and found there was no port for it! I also realised I had a control pad that worked with the PC, and it is the same connection! It's the plug with like 15 pins on it.

Why is there no port on my PC for this, and what can be done about it (is there a converter or something?)

Thanks,

Simon

most new joysticks uses USB but i guess you have the 15 pin connector which most motherboards do not support but are availabe on soundcards but you can buy a gameport to usb convertor.

i am ssuming that the joystick and pad you bave are pretty old, reason i say this as i belive the joystick port has been done away with and no loner features on modern pcs. joysticks and pads now have usb connection wich just connet to regualr usb port. i dont know if you can get adaptors you may need to buy a new pad.

if you havea xbox 360 these pads can be used with pcs as they are usb, you just have to download some drivers.

Oh right, yeah they are quite old, but I remember the joystick was quite expensive at the time, so I definitely want to use it. I'll have a look for some converters out there. Thanks guys.
