Behind you... Naked!
I love FPS games, however I have not been able to play them properly for years now.

I have a disabled left hand or rather my fingers and I hanve serious issues trying to run and then go left or back... I can move right just fine LOL

So, I am in need of a joystick thats quite small, just for use for the basic UDLR movements but also a couple of buttons thumb-area perhaps?

I have tried looking around and I have bought a fair few ofthem, but nothing is even remotely suitable.

Any suggestions of models to look for?

Thanks.

How do you fair with using a gamepad such as an Xbox controller? I don't have mine on me to check, but I imagine it's possible to map most of the WASD/shift/ctrl/space inputs to it.

I have tried a few of these yes, but half the time they wont work WITH the mouse, but instead of...

i wonder if you could map a second mouse for your left hand to mimic wasd..

i fancy trying that myself.

Doesnt work.
You cannot keep[ walking in any one direction, unless you keep picking the mouse up .

Try looking through this mate http://www.oneswitch.org.uk/1/AGS/AGS-bespoke.htm

There are some UK based ones amongst the list and might give you an idea of what will work for you.

Best

You Wulf, are without a doubt, the sexiest little fun-bundle on the planet.
I am privelidged to have walked upon the very same planet as thee, and I wish to have your babies.

or

It'll do, I s'pose!

:D

To be honest, I was thinking of doing some heavy modifications to a controler, by soldering on teh contacts of various points on it, only works for the digital side unless I use potentiometers of course, but then housing the innards of the controler in an ABS box, and having some ports for external switches... You can get for example multiple AUX sockets on one board and the idea is sound.

There is nothing that says that I could not perhaps make a 9 pin D-Type socket that will also allow me to then plug in an Atari style joystick too... I knw that these are available as USB or you can also buy those to USB adapters, but this idea wil allow that, plus the rest of the buttons for other things.

But thee addresses I wil definitely contact and see what they can do for me... It is all down to getting things right so I can start playing again without gettign killed in a few seconds just because I cannot move my hand properly. That is so frustrating when I know I used to play many many times better than I do now but its out of my control. ( Literally LOL )

i use the right mouse button as walk/run so i never thought of that lol, but i do agree that for most it would be no good.

well spotted.

Well, I have got most of the bits I need to build my own controler now.

I managed to source a basic joypad, that kind of looks a bit SNES-ish and it has the main controls of U/D/L/R and the 4 buttons Red,Blue,Grn,Yel plus both shoulder buttons as well as START and SELECT.

So thats 12 possibles.

I have been looking at options for the actual switching now.

That 3D Rudder would be fairly easy to build, or at least not as hard as one would thing ( He says as if he knew what he was talking about ) but certainly the idea of having my feet on a platform and having the ability to move some contraption to go with them is one that I have been thinking about, but not in a circular board way that the Rudder does, but more like having my heels on the bottom, and then pressing down to go forward, pulling my foot up towards me for back, and leaning it over for left and right, with the possibility of even using both feet so that I can simply push each foot out to go inb that direction? - Again , its all ideas for now... The prices of various button options is quite shocking to be honest.

I have in the past bought replacement foot pedals for my electronic drum kits and I have found really cheap options for them, however, they dotn last very lon when used as drum pedals and so gaming wil kill them just as quickly, so...

I think as a trial run, there is no reason why I could not simply make a ridimentary switch out of anything, even foil, just to get the thing into a prototype trial before I spend too much money?

Now, I have opened the pad up, and I see no reason as to why I cannpt simply sodler connections to the traces and to the AUX sockets ( I may use 1/4" Jack sockets instead though ) its just that as you can see... I can colour code the AUX ones.

Again, I have plenty of options, just limited with the costs of the switches.
