... could you please advise me on the best way to transfer jpeg photos onto a CD to view on a DVD player,

Nero has an option for creating super video CDs which should work, although I have never tried it. So no guarantees

Just thought I would mention in case you already have Nero.

Some newer models of DVD players allow you to play jpg's , so ,just use Nero and treat as data [ transfer your pictures directly to disk], but for a better slideshow get hold of programs like ProShowGold ,Memories on TV ,Photos to DVD , and theres loads more , even Photo Story by MS is good . Add your pictures ,add some mp3's as background music and write to disk . A really nice way to view your pictures.
