Oh, and by the way - if anyone's interested NASA are holding a briefing (broadcast on NASA TV) with regards to a 'significant discovery' made by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter at 7PM BST. Could be worth a watch:

I think the main reason they used solar panels was because there just wasn't an RTG for them to use
