That's not true anymore, actually. I think the PS3 has the lowest attach rate (in the US at least).

That's not true either. Nintendo approached Sony because it wanted to use CDs. But Nintendo didn't like that Sony had more control than Nintendo thought they should have, and effectively shafted them in favour of Philips.

/EDIT for OP:

Would rather Nintendo and MS link, as we may actually not be shafted here in Europe. Although to be fair, we did get Mario Kart, Metroid Prime and Wii Fit first. In reality, I like it the way it is. 3 fairly different choices.

nintendo and sony worked together on a project for nintendo - the fell out and sony used the technology developed and made the playstation.

i forget the ins and outs but thats sort of how it went.

so i doubt they would cooperate

plus i doubt the big 3 would want to share profits

Sony Computer Entertainment are the ones that are operating at a loss at present.

Nintendo are indeed the only console manufacturers to be making a profit from day one.

I wasn't saying MS are only around due to the bank they have available to them, i was simply saying they have that option. MS and Sony can waste a lot more money than nintendo, in theory but proved by this generation of consoles i think. I.E. Nintendo knew they couldn't survive a straight power console v the other two, they had to offer something completely different.
