just a quick BF2 question

I only just got around to picking up this game with all expansion packs (few years late i know) And i wondered do i only have to download and install the latest patches or all of them? As for the COD games you can only install 1 patch at a time.

i believe its a full patch and a normal patch 1.4 and then 1.41

theres also the tampa highway map to install, its not built into a patch specifically.

EDIT: Are you playing on a widescreen monitor by any chance?

If you are remember to add +widescreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050 to your launch command for the shortcut to bf2

Also, you need to download and install http://www.imk.cx/pc/widescreenfixer/ this program fixes the correct aspect ratio, load it before bf2, then its a simple ";" press to acivate it in game. You should then get a windescreen picture without any image chopped off.

right ok ... so all i need to get is the latest 1.4 patch and then the 1.41 after that and i should be good to go?

I think 1.41 is a full patch, no need for another patch.

Its quite a tough game to get into initially especially being so late into the fray.

There are so many things going on at once it becomes quite intense.

I personally recommend Project Reality mod (www.realitymod.com) for BF2. Absolutely brillant.

Why do you need the fixer if the command line sets the resolution? Do you not just need one or the other? Or are both needed?

as Malc30 said but dont forget if you install another addon ie. Euro Forces or Armoured Fury you will need to install the 1.41 patch for each addon. Happy gaming

Have fun musty pie! . Man i spent my whole summer back in 2006 playing that game. i have like 500 hours on the strike at karkand map alone. I just loved the squad work aspect of the game.

I play cod4 and the like but they are too fast paced for my liking. You cannot beat a good squad leader on TS barking orders!

COD4 makes a change simply because the map is so much smaller and everything becomes a little more frantic (but fun!)

I got it all installed last night but didnt have time to give it a blitz! i will let you know how i get on when i fire it up for the first time.

The command line fixes the resolution, the widescreenfixer fixes the field of view. The standard FOV is set to 1.1 and is modified to 1.3 by the fixer.
