Also, you need to download and install http://www.imk.cx/pc/widescreenfixer/ this program fixes the correct aspect ratio, load it before bf2, then its a simple ";" press to acivate it in game. You should then get a windescreen picture without any image chopped off.

Wow, going to give that widescreen fixer a go when i get my new monitor. tell me, do you have to use the program everytime you want to play or does it save a config file or something?

u have to run it everytime u play, then once u enter game u can toggle between it being on or off by clicking ";" (or whichever key u set). When u zoom in with the sniper rifle it switches off but wen u zoom out again it switches back on (so nothing u need to do). This is the only bug i have found with using it but it doesnt bother me.
