Recently built myself a nice shiny new rig, much smaller than my old one. So now I'm looking to sell my old one as it's pretty much complete, but I kept the GTX 1070 for my new rig ;)

Spec:
3930K @ 4.5GHz w/ Corsair H100 (their very first model) with a couple of SP120 quiets.
Asus Rampage IV Extreme
32GB DDR3 I forget the speed, but it's not important.
Corsair AX850 psu
Coolermaster HAF X case
assortment of HDDs, 1TB Velociraptor (superfast mechanical 220MB/s), 2TB WD green slow drive, 60GB SSD

As for GPU, I have a few old ones knocking around. Nothing really suitable for gaming (GTX 460, or Radeon HD 6870) but I would complete the system so it's complete and able to power on and work as a PC.

Alternatively, I can break it and sell individual components, but I don't know how much of a market there is for 5-6 year old X79 gear. And old cases NEVER sell, so scrap value (17KG of steel).

So, any ideas on my best option? Flog it as is? Stick in an old GPU to complete it? Break it up?

you'll likely find it an easier sell if you are prepared to break it up. the only risk with that is you end up with a few bits and pieces you can shift. best bet is to sell it in the MM but at the minute you need to ask for access to the MM in this thread. just pop in and tell them you need access to the MM

once in the MM you'll be able to ask for price checks etc
