the ram. be very very careful with RAM when using the UD3R as my thread is proof lol.

check it out everywhere to make sure it's compatible/people have used it without problems.

aside from that it looks good, good luck, and have fun! =)

That P6T SE is a fine board, I know the OCZ RAM works great in it. So long as you don't want SLI capability in the future then its a good board to get. After, some problems I have only recently been hearing about the Gigabyte UD3R- this ASUS board looks like a fine substitute.

I'd be tempted to go for the Asus board too. A few too many problems with the Gigabyte lately.

Also, what is the HDD you'll be using? You say it's a 2005 model - it will work fine, but if it's not particularly fast, it could hold the system back a bit.

thanks for the positive replies .

@Mattus - its a good point, im just trying to keep costs down as much as possible, i think next month i will purchase a new HDD, maybe have my OS running on this 120GB HDD i have and all other things on a new 500GB possibly.

@cmndr_andi - If i was going to consider SLI for the future what motherboard would you propose with SLI capabilities with these components.
I could possibly purchase a new Gcard in a few months to add at a later stage.
Wondering if SLI will help much more?

If you want SLI, this is a good board. Its currently out of stock though. I just saw the price of this board, its mATX but the features are amazing.

SLI is a nice option to have, because in the future you can have bias as to which graphics card to get as both company's multi GPU solutions are available - just pick the one that is best value. SLI scaling (2 cards) is actually very good now, so buying two cheaper is often better than buying one expensive one. Also, you can buy the best card available then add a second some time later when you need extra performance and cards are cheaper.

you can use a sata 2 controller with a sata 1 drive and vice versa, it wil just run at sata 1 speed, the specs are pin compatabale, they justdoubled the clock speed
