After much faffing about i have just bitten the bullet and ordered two kingston 40gb ssd's, these will be set up to run in raid 0 alongside my currant raid 0 WD 640 aakks.

I will be installing a fresh install of windows 7 ultimate, and i seem to remember somebody posting up a link to an optimizer, ive had a quick search but i only seem to be able to find the intel toolkit one which might not work with the kingston drives.

can somebody please link to one of these optimizers or to a web site that lists the best optimizations please.

Why didn't you get an intel 80GB instead?

2 Kingston 40GB work out a little cheaper than the Intel 80 GB, and RAID compensates for the slower writes and possible gives a slightly better performance.

The fly in the ointment is uncertainty whether Kingston will provide some form of TRIM support. However, performance degradation on these drives isn't really that high, and lack of TRIM may not be an issue for most users (and you can always do a disk image, wipe and restore every six months if really needed).

ok scratch that just noticed that the mother quacking company i ordered from and even spoke to on the phone to comfirm that they had the items in stock have sent another email telling me.
Dear Graham Rogers,

Unfortunately we have just been notified that this item has in fact gone out of stock and we will therefore not be able to fulfill your order for delivery tomorrow.

We have therefore cancelled your payment and order, so that you can try to source it elsewhere.

I am sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.

Best Regards,

Tom

so now im really quacked off. its taken me ages to find somewhere that has stock, i even phoned them to comfirm they were actually in stock, and the website still says theres 2 in stock. what a complete bunch of moronic quacketards.
the only good thing to come of this after me telling the wife how disgruntled i was, is the wife has said "quack it just order the intel", so even though its another £40 and i wont get it till thursday now ive got an intel 80gb one comming....

The Kingston's already have TRIM support. They're running the Intel 2HA firmware.
