Can't post any links on here as they will either be considered a competitor or sell dodgy stuff like mod-chips as well. But I'd suggest just looking on Google for what you are after.

No it isn't. The point of the game is the exploration and puzzle-solving as much as the combat so the controls are designed for mobility rather than traditional FPS style.

Plus scanning would be impossible without the lock-on.

It is innitially VERY frustrating for a few hours but it soon becomes second nature, keep with it.

I admit I may have been harsh at the time on Ikaruga and whether it's a 'great' game; it arguably is. I guess part of me still feels its spiritual home conversation is the DC and it isn't therefore a 'unique' title to the GC, although this is an irrelevant point. It is a beautiful and wonderfully stylised game from a great developer, and head and shoulders over the other games I listed as 'v.good'.

F-Zero GX, Donkey Konga, Paper Mario, Wind Waker and RE 4 are my essesntials. Ikaruga is one of the most boring shmups around imo and the pal version doesn't even run in 60hz, one to avoid as far as i'm concerned.

Mario smash football is quite good for a multiplayer laugh
Not one for the serious footie fans though

Rogue Squadron 3 is probably the best to get, good single player and has RS2 for multiplayer coop and some fun versus battles

RE, RE0 and RE4 look and play just superbly
