I just bought this K&N Cue Website.
Here

I was just wondering what are the precedures of fitting one of these? Is it hard to fit?

I have just seen where i have to put it, the black duratec box on top of the engine is the the air filter box i take it, would i have to remove this whole unit? Or could i just take the filter out of the unit and bolt on the air filter from this box?

The cars a Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.4 mark6

Thanks so much in advance

Josh

Dont say that! It said i would gain a bit of power not lose power :(

You'll probably lose power unless you get a cold air feed, especially in this weather. The cone filter is exposed to the heat of the engine bay and pulls in hot air which reduces performance. Even a heatshield won't help. The enclosed standard airbox ensures that the car only draws in cold air from outside the engine bay and this is why a performance panel filter will almost always outperform a cone filter.

Is there anyway i can jammy the cold air onto the air filter?

EDIT - Under the first intake duct there a hole into the engine should i position it in such a way that it is behind this?

Use a flexible pipe that you get for air extractors for bathrooms. You can route it from your front where the air comes in already. Then on the cone side try to make it air tight between the pipe and filter.

That sounds like a good idea, ive got loads here luckily

ouch

I'd have gone for a replacement panel filter myself but only if I had the money literally burning a hole.

Still as has been said some ducting (the silver stuff) and position it so air gets delivered direct from outside to the cone. Should sound a bit more meaty at least :)

EDIT- just realised you never said you paid that much for yours :o

£30!!!

I hope it sounds better at least!

Im never going to stoop to the level of getting a chavvy exhaust that sound awful.

I saw a guy with a standard 1.2 clio with a f off exhaust, totally pointless and it was a 5 door! Sounded atrocious

i never said that you would turn your head...

but it DOES turn heads. i have been sat there as passenger on way to fishing, and people do turn to look when they hear! crazy i know. but what u giving me roll eyes for?

Roll eyes makes my blood boil lol!!! People just use them gratuitously!

Anyway, im gonna do this proper.

Here is the intake under the duct on the first picture that im gonna get cool air from. This should help a lot!

In my GTI-6 I have - Green Panel Performance Filter + Drilled Lid

Sounds normal, with normal driving. Put your foot down and it sounds like a scooby :D Prolly added a few bhp due to the original paper filter being restrictive.

What does a everyone mean by a drilled lid?

Ok, i got it through today and fitted it and tbh im not sure if i like the sound! Its a bit too loud!!! Dont notice any loss or gain in power though. Heres some pics. I may change my hose though.

I may put it to where you see the hose first as there is a huge gap there! ill need new pipe though. And it sits right on top of the cam which gets well hot.

I just followed the instructions which said to put it there so i followed them. :(

Its quite a bassey tone that comes from it in contrast to the original sound, sounds a bit annoying but you can make it do different tones though.

Ill move it when i get the right pipe.

P.S why dont k&n tell you about heatsoak or anything?

Josh

I think i may take it out, i dont like it!

I was going to turn the pipe around from the base 90* then i saw anti tamper type paint on the metal tightener me jobby (lost the name totally) anyone else have this?

Dont want to void my warranty!
