I just bought this K&N Cue Website.
Here

I was just wondering what are the precedures of fitting one of these? Is it hard to fit?

I have just seen where i have to put it, the black duratec box on top of the engine is the the air filter box i take it, would i have to remove this whole unit? Or could i just take the filter out of the unit and bolt on the air filter from this box?

The cars a Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.4 mark6

Thanks so much in advance

Josh

i havnt actually done it myself but my friend who knows nothing about cars managed to fit his without a problem so it shouldnt be to hard, just follow the instructions given

Pull out your airbox.
Attach filter to induction housing/pipe using hte jubilee clip.
Sorted.

Make sure you place the filter in a place where it will get a sufficient cold air feed. If your airbox has a cold air feed running into it it might be best to leave the bottom of the airbox fitted and secure the filter into it.

You'll probably lose power unless you get a cold air feed, especially in this weather. The cone filter is exposed to the heat of the engine bay and pulls in hot air which reduces performance. Even a heatshield won't help. The enclosed standard airbox ensures that the car only draws in cold air from outside the engine bay and this is why a performance panel filter will almost always outperform a cone filter.

In the heat you will lose power due to heat soak. You could try setting up an extra pipe that is a cold air feed for the k&n.

Is there anyway i can jammy the cold air onto the air filter?

EDIT - Under the first intake duct there a hole into the engine should i position it in such a way that it is behind this?

Use a flexible pipe that you get for air extractors for bathrooms. You can route it from your front where the air comes in already. Then on the cone side try to make it air tight between the pipe and filter.

That sounds like a good idea, ive got loads here luckily

Web Price: £72.01

ouch

I'd have gone for a replacement panel filter myself but only if I had the money literally burning a hole.

Still as has been said some ducting (the silver stuff) and position it so air gets delivered direct from outside to the cone. Should sound a bit more meaty at least :)

EDIT- just realised you never said you paid that much for yours :o

£30!!!

I hope it sounds better at least!

Im never going to stoop to the level of getting a chavvy exhaust that sound awful.

I saw a guy with a standard 1.2 clio with a f off exhaust, totally pointless and it was a 5 door! Sounded atrocious

panel filter would have cost u the same probably anyway so might as well do it properly, my mates 1.6 focus has a K+N air filter and it does actually turn heads when he accelerates hard...

Haha my mate had a K&N for a bit. I tried it on my car, it was loud. :o Also yes I agree, people do turn their heads as you go past. Couldn't stand the heatsoak and feeling like a chav so I didn't buy my own. :p
