Just bought a Mac Mini M1 ... tell me what I'm going to dislike about it

So when I had mine I had two bugbears -

1) The wireless capability didn't seem very good. Playing games through Microsoft's XBox cloud gaming system on Microsoft Edge on Ventura was very difficult as the image kept pixelating and freezing making it impossible to play anything. If I tried to do exactly the same process on my PC with Microsoft Edge, it was flawless. I can't explain why this was happening on the Mac but I primarily bought it so I didn't have to buy an Xbox as well.

2) The HDMI signal regularly kept dropping out with momentary black screen on my TV every now and again. I tried different cables, different HDMI ports on the TV and I never got to the bottom of it.

I decided the mini wasn't for me and promptly sold it. Now I am looking at getting a Macbook instead, so that will at least alleviate the HDMI issue. :p

I've sold it ... the Beelink is a far, far, better expandable design at almost half the cost ..,
One of the big disadvantages with Apple computers but then, for example, the M1 would have performed better under certain workloads compared to the 5500U. As always, it's swings and roundabouts, like with the age old 'Windows vs MacOS' debate where realistically both OS's are equally good and ****.

At least you gave it a whirl :)

Just looking at the Beelink, nice little machine, long may there be more competition in the super small mini PC world. I've not kept up to date but the NUCs were king, but super expensive back when I last looked.

Might look at one for a little server.

What a bizarre posting style it was like you're angry at yourself for purchasing in the first place then pointing all of it's flaws out (incorrectly may I add) glad that you were happy with your new machine.. I think?

What puts me off the mini is the lack of upgradability or repair. But I can find nothing as compact, quiet and energy efficient. I hate seperate power bricks.

That said I've still not bought one.

That's my biggest bugbear, having to think about the optional extras at purchase if you plan on keeping it for any length of time. But it's part and parcel of (now) Mac ownership and why i'm going to run my 2018 into the ground
