Just bought a new bike :)

Oh it feels a lot more powerful than the ZX9 :D. To be honest I've only done about 35 miles on it so far, but some of that was on a fast A road. As mentioned, it feels like the power of the zx9's top end, but right through the rev range and in any gear. It just has all the power all of the time.

I did a datalogged 165mph at Bruntingthorpe on the zx9 and these will do 175-180, which requires quite a lot more 'oomph' for a small increase in speed. The screen is also a lot better than the ZX9 - with the large double bubble your in a perfectly cocooned air bubble whcih makes the speed deceptive.

The ZX9 is an awesome, underated bike though. If it wasnt for the touring ability of the 'bird I'd have bought another, but yeah, the Blackbird is in another league power wise. God knows what the 'busa/zzr1400 must feel like!

tbh i dont think theres much in it between the 3 bikes
its more down to witch style you like best
1 thing i will say is keep an eye on your speedo as you cant feel the speed on these hyper bikes
ive looked down a few times and its oh s*** i must slow down lol
heres a good vid testing the bird/busa/zx12
dont forget they are pro's riding the average rider wont notice a difference between the 3
enjoy your new ride :)

Dammit I need a new bike! :( Now's the time to buy them. Looks like you've got yourself a steal there mate.

Ditto :( Wish I didnt agree to an exotic holiday this summer now :(

Not a fan of the blackbird personally but can imagine its quite a comfortable ride with plenty of power to suit!

Out of interest, what is the fuel injection like on the 'bird? Every fuel injected honda I've ridden has been pretty rough low down in the rev range, clearing up after 4k rpm.

nice bike mate tried one myself before settling for a busa. very little in it the busa just suieted me slightly better. looks good in the black.

is there i aint seen it for some time should i remove it ??

There is swearing by the fifth word, 4 seconds into the video :D . Love that video, seen it before, along with all the other FastBikes videos on there! Would love them on DVD if I could find them!

very nice choice! Always been a huge fan of the Blackbirds. Hope to own one after getting a few years NCB back. At 19 i dont think anyone would touch me with an insurance quote on a blackbird :D

But its definitely going to be the next choice of bike for me!

If you read the 2nd page you'll see he buys one and his insurance is £720 TPFT - not cheap but when you consider the performance and what poeple pay for car insurance its not horrific!

I like the big bird, it's not at all my sort of bike- I like little engines working hard- but it does the job very well, giving away a little power and speed in order to make a better overall bike makes total sense, and it's basically a 10-year-old model still nearly as good as the latest competition. That's unheard of...

A while back, me and a mate were going down to Wales... He'd just got a new (to him) Blackbird, and I was tyrekicking it in an attempt to cut him down to size :D I started nitpicking on corrosion, worn paint etc, and he quietly pointed out it was 9 years and 100000 miles old- I'd not seen the reg but I thought it was maybe 5 years old, tops. Impressive.
