Just put a deposit down on a Fiesta ZS, 00W. Was up for £3495 but got him down to £2800 after noticing a few scratches (nothing more than a good polish, t cut would get rid of) and the back box will need replacing in a few months. 62000 miles on the clock, nearly full SH and 12 months MOT and 6 months tax.

Feel like I've got a bargain to be honest, seen ones in worse condition go for a lot more, there was no rust in the sills but noticed a slight bubble on the rear drivers side arch so knocked more off my offer. Test drive was great, started first time from cold and handled like it was on rails, no body roll and corners were taken with ease. By far the fastest and best handling car I've driven, then again my friends 1.25 Mk5 Fiesta was a hoot to drive too.

So my questions/opinions wanted...

What exhaust would people recomend?
I'm after a Ford/Double DIN headunit too, preferably MP3 and also any non tacky performance/style mods I should make?

Cheers, I await your comments, both good and bad!

Ah right cheers Tesla. I have JVC headunit cant remember which model but it was £150 reduced from £300 may put that in and save some cash for a few subtle mods.

Timbob, even the passenger seat ride was fun, but it was such a fun drive I had to have it!

Nice, the dash is 1.5 DIN same as mine.

What colour is it, I'll keep an eye out for it ;)

It's Panther Black, W*** JRM. Will be out and about properly in a few days with loads of pics!

Any advice or pics of other users ZS' as I know a few people have/had them here.

Cheers for the link to the video! :D

Been looking into Bluefin and a miltek exhaust, do people recomend a whole new system or just the backbox? Also what induction kit would you recomend? Don't want anything annoyingly raspy, want a nice sounding roar lol. :D

Pics will be posted when I get the car to my house :D

The garage I've bought it off is taxing it on the 28th of this month as it has no tax currently (ran out in June) just wondering if it would be legal to drive it on the 28th? Or would I have to wait til the 1st?

Also thinking of a Carputer and 7in touchscreen in the dash instead of the Ford 6000 unit, any ideas of suitable spec and case etc.

Cheers

The other negative points were higher initial cost and higher insurance cost so er how about compare it to the appropriate model in the range.

0-60
Zetec-S - 10
VTR - 9.4
VTS - 7.6

Insurance Group
Zetec-S - 8
VTR - 7
VTS - 14

And there you can see why the VTR is the rival to the ZS not the VTS.

Yes the Fiesta has more gadgets, looks more modern, has nicer std alloys, comfier seats etc etc but better drivers car hmm how about using a more trustworthy source than Steve "I like bikes" Berry.

After being a passenger in many VTR's and VTS's I have to say the ride, to me, seemed less responsive and lacked the feel that the ZS has. IMO that means a lot more than an extra 1.5-2 seconds to 60 and you rarely stop and start down the 'twisties' ;)

What the bloody hell can you tell about the feel of a car from the passenger seat

So you can tell me that you can't sit in the passenger seat of a car and tell me that you can't feel body roll or the way the car is reacting in anyway?

They just didn't feel as 'planted' to the road as the ZS and rolled abit to much for me.

Neither car can be described as bad handling, and the saxo might rattle but then the fiesta will rust.

Anyway get your arses to a track day and I'll come :)

Haha, can't really reply to that comment. lol. I will definately be up for a track day involving a some warm hatches!

The grill badge on my ZS is half peeled off somehow so I'm either looking at replacing it (with a refurbed black one or red) or taking it off, opinions?

Well, had it a few days now and my god its fun! Only gripes I have are the seats are very uncomfortable, much harder than the 106 and 306 I had, bit to hard but will get used to it when I get a comfortable position. The next one is personal to the car, the girl before me put **** Sony Xplod 6x9's in the parcel shelf and they aren't connected properly and 'flap' abit at low/mid volume so they will be coming out and replaced by some 13cm speakers in the original position and a 10" sub in the boot. Also steering wheel shakes at 60+ so will be getting the tracking done today.

Great car to drive, just gettin used to it so not booted it hard. Just so much fun that I keep grinning when I'm driving it.

Will get some pictures later and will give the car a good clean and sort it all out this week as I have a week off work!

Seats seem very hard and quite high. Size wise they are fine as I've not got the biggest frame (only 10st8). Just need to adapt to them I think.

Need to show it some proper roads I know, where do you recommend? I know the area very well, Denbigh way via the bends, dyserth bends and all the back roads. Want some nice pics too :P
