Its a fact that they aren't as accurate as mice, so I will state is as such. Its not even a contest mate, honestly I don't know why you are even bothering to say otherwise, its simply not possible to play certain games satisfactorily with them/

I'm not wasting time to master something which isn't as good as pc controls.

Thats not to say I don't use them.

I didn't say it was as accurate. However, it doesn't make it lesser as such, as was mentioned earlier on, the feeling of tracking opponents and second guessing their movements as you carefully place a crosshair over someone and squeeze the trigger is, in some cases, much more enjoyable than whipping across and nailing someone with a mouse.

Something like UT3 will perform better with a mouse, but something like Goldeneye, Splinter Cell or Rainbow Six I've found much more fun with the method I posted above.

To be fair, joypads are just as accurate, they just aren't as quick. Just as some games require the need to aim very quickly, some don't. Some can actually be worse for it.

Some of the best fps i've played would be worse games with mouse control. Of course, someone who has never become accustomed to using a pad wouldn't know this ;)

I loved Call of Duty 2 on the 360 but didn't enjoy it on the PC and it was all down to the controls.

However, twitch reaction games like Quake\Unreal are hopeless on a joypad.

If you guys like the slow pad be my guest. Whether you are used to it or not doesn't change basic facts.

Why are people adament of defending the 360 so much or other consoles? Everyone here seems insecure of their purchases I think and any disagreements bring the fanboys out. Never see this happen in the PC games section, happens a lot in the graphics section between ATI/NVidia owners though.

I'm not defending pc, I'm stating my opinion, knowing very well people here don't agree with me.

The best you can take from it is that I've formed my opinion by actually buying some consoles instead of fanboyism.

edit/ while the above may seem true of me as well, i actually don't care so you'd be wrong.

I'm not defending anything, I have owned all 3 of the current generation of consoles and have had bleeding edge or very high end PC's for many years. I'm a gamer, not a console gamer or a PC gamer, a gamer.

You just seem to be going about this in completely the wrong way and are getting all aggressive and upset when people disagree with your opinion.

The best you can take from it is that I've formed my opinion by not being a moron.

You are doing the same now aren't:rolleyes:

No need for personal attacks either.

FPS as a genre isn't suited to pad, you are compromising on aiming accuracy, and in a 1v1, you'd get pwned.

ARGH! If a game is designed from the ground up to work on a pad then it feels fine.
Technically FPS isn't a genre suited to M&K either, I would say it's suited to VR, but that's not the point.

What's better for example? Devastation on the PC or Halo3 on the Xbox360?

But the same game played with a KB/ mouse would be even better which what I'm trying to get at.

Your elaborate explanation about slow aiming, etc makes no sense. The point is that you are supposed to react quickly and kill.

I think I'll post a pic now to take it on tangent.

Has anyone with a PS3 tested it on 720p and 1080p? I know the games are internally rendered at the same res but is there much advantage with 1080p for blueray at least?

Also LPCM sound would be a good thing. I should have gone for the Onkyo AMP but I'm not sure if its as good as the sony sonically which seemed at the time t get rave reviews.

whats you problem mate?

How am i supposed to answer those questions above by using the thing? I need opinions from people who have better kit than me.

I'm actually working now and busy to be playing.

The problem with PC FPS games is it's never a level playing field, there are too many Rambo wannabe nerds happy to play at 640*480 resolution with tweaked gamma and all the graphics at an absolute minimum to ensure they have that all important advantage, not to mention 3000dpi mice.

Latency aside at least on console the only deciding factor is player ability.

If your TV is 1080P then go for it; but if you mean 720P v 1080i on a 720P TV then you are probably best off just staying at 720P.

its not the fact that we are not as you are suggest "not so knowledgeable", its the fact that most of your questions have been answered so many times before that a simple search will most probably give you your answers, plus the fact you do seem to come across as rather arrogant "to put it politely"

1080i looks a lot better on 1366*768 screens that overscan (usually 5-10%) for obvious reasons.

That's far more polite than the way I would have said it.

I'm a nice boy though :( lol

I browse AVforums regularly and they are more knowledgeable on TVs/Sound, wasn't meant to snubb console users but they tend not to be glued up on technical details.
