If the Stellar has the HTC home screen as per the Vario III, just rotate the screen before launching Tomtom as this works perfectly.
Rotate in the system settings or by extending the keyboard?

If you have the HTC home screen then in the Launcher menu is a short cut to rotate the screen.
Which you can assign to a button within Settings
I only have a TyTn v1, so this may be slightly different. Both are on Windows Mobile 6 though, so I don't see why it would be.
I think that all versions of the TyTn II comewith it pre-installed, but otherwise have a google for the HTC Home plug-in. (not sure if I can link to it here?)
Once you have installed that, go to 'Buttons' menu within 'Settings'.
Under 1. select the button that you would like to use to change the screen rotation. (The 'press and hold' buttons might be the best, so that you don't accidentally rotate the screen by tapping a button)
Then under 2., select the <Rotate Screen> option.
Click ok, and you're done.
