if u aint got 2gb ram it will kill your system (6600 in your sig), also be prepared for crashing, LANGUAGE like that, but aside the problems its probable the best fps out there aside cod2 ofc :D

Do yourself a favour and download the PoE mod, don't even bother playing vanilla BF2.

Core clock= 576Mhz

Memory clock= 1.15Ghz

and thanks for the quick reply

Can't say mate, BF2 is a very unpredictable game. Even the smallest change in your OS can foul the game up and stop it from working. Best just to try it out. But I'd seriously download the PoE mod, it's so much more fun, you don't have loads of idiots running around trying to get as many points as they can.

i had much trouble with my BF2 recently after a format and reinstall of xp, it just got to the splash screen and the process just hung after it. turned out i needed to update my safeDisc driver. never had that in my whole experiance of pcs, was really quite freaky.

To be fair the new 1.4 patch "seems" to have resolved the disconnections for me. (I know I really shouldn't of said that).

Anyway as said 2 gig does help a lot with bf2, worth upgrading if you can. If not run it on medium textures.

Also I wouldn't bother with PoE just yet. BF2 is a great game by itself, granted its had one or two issues, but on the whole a very good time is to be had.

As for servers 50klicks is pretty good, but generally I just go for any ranked servers. As with any online game you'll always run into ******* at some point, but just don't let it wind you up too much :)

I have a 9800 Pro and 1 GB RAM and its fine on medium settings. Looks good and plays good. So there is no NEED to upgrade but a RAM upgrade would help loading times etc.

play vanilla 1st, get bored of that before u ry POE, I personally think POE sucks as i like close combat action NOT massive tank battles.

Some maps have no tanks.

Main memory requirements are about 750meg for low textures, 1 gig medium textures and 1.5gig high textures.

Low res will be smooth and medium will be smooth after 5 minutes of chug per map change

As a point of interest I just reformatted & installed BF2, before adding any patches I thought I would try it online expecting no servers to be available.

To my surprise there are quite a few altho unranked of course so I had a couple of games there & then & it all seemed to run perfectly well on a near full 64 player. I presume its one way of playing without fear of constant crashing, makes you wonder if maybe its the ranking system that causes many of the CTD's

The original bf2 wasnt that bad apart from a memory leak, later patches invented new and ingenious errors. I think the players on the original are more likely to be playing a cracked or hacked edition
