Just bought components from scratch - A3 error and not detecting graphics card

Purchased a complete new build and it arrived this morning. Put it all together nicely. However, the graphics card (GTX580) isnt registering and im getting an "A3" error on the motherboard. When i go to the onboard graphics everything is fine and works AOK. The motherboard is an ASRock Z68 Extreme Gen3. Has anyone had anything similar happen? Any sollutions? Could graphics card just not work? Any help would be massively appreciated

Ive only plugged 8 pins in upto now. could this be the problem?

Believe the A3 is no HDD, which is prob sprung up because you hadnt installed windows yet, have you now installed windows using onboard gfx? If so try gfx card, again, ensure its seated correctly and youve plugged in all the additional power cables for it. If you havent yet installed windows, do that using onboard then try card as above

Yes, you need to have 2 x 8 pin connectors plugged in

Ive installed windows etc yes. And im trying the extra power as we speak.. one moment.

SOrted. thanks for the help. First one ive done so was a bit unsure! went so smoothly towards until the end. Just relieved i havent blown anything up. much appreciated pal.
