Can't wait to see this running games. I used to have a BFG GeForce 7800 GT OC 256MB.

what kind of difference can i expect to see?? tell me tell me :D

You have too much money. If you have anymore chests of gold left may i suggest RAIDed hdd's, they make a noticable difference when loading windows and your pc doesn't make horrible grinding noises when loading large folders.

Yeah thats a stupidly high spec pc :P

Over twice as fast in games however I would personally be looking at a new case as well... with 2 HDs, the GTX and a longer than normal PSU it might not all fit.

If it does it will be very tight with the top blowhole getting in the way of the PSU, GTX will only fit by 5mm and 2/3 of the HD bays will be blocked.

I'd have bought 2 500GB Seagate drives and ran them in RAID0, plus you wasted your money on that PSU tbh.

Nevertheless, still very nice. :)

Certainly impressive. As mentioned above that will be tight, but if it fits it fits, and as long as you're not relying on wind tunnel air flow to keep that quad-core cool you'll probably be fine.

Also as mentioned the PSU is overkill, but heck, it'll still be decent when 600w+ become mandatory for a gaming rig.

I'm sort of surprised you went with only 2 gigs of ram given that everything else is so horredously high-spec, but I suppose you can always upgrade to 4 when it actually makes a difference.

Its gonna be pants ;<

Nah, once you get it all running you'll love it.
Pitty the quads arent too overclockable :P
Only nip is that the PSU is a bit overkill if i may say so :P

That will be a little like my new build (waiting for payday).

wow that is some spec you got there mate, how much did it cost all together if you dont mind me askin?

don't mind you asking at all but i don't know as it has been built up over a long period. that hdd's come from older builds and that floppy drive is ancient.

some people have said i wasted my money on that psu. well i agree - it is over the top. but i've had about 3 different psu's in quick succession. a hiper that blew, some other thing before that that wouldn't run the 7800 gt as it didn't have the guts, and then an antec 650 that was causing my pc to shut down instantly. so i thought this time i'll go the whole hog. and since i just got £750 that is mine to waste completely on anything i wan't, i'm wasting it :D :D

a stupidly "high" spec. i thought we all liked fast computers on here

thanks for the other comments. hope it posts once i get the new gear in. :)

the machine is already built. posting from it just now. so i've been able to measure how its going to be and it will be ok. yes the card is going to project into the hdd bay, but it takes 5 drives and i only use 3, and they are already positioned so that they are out of the way of the 7800 gt, so its going to fit. as it is the molex from my 7800 gt would block a hdd anyway. i wouldn't get the sata connectors in.

just been looking at it. very nice and i do have a bit left to blow. but not going to do it cos i can't be bothered doing a full build. i'd rather just stick the psu and the gfx into the case i have. too lazy :p

yup, don't you know a nice expensive aluminium case makes your computer faster? i mean it doesn't cool any better and due to being much thinner and lighter than steal actually vibrates more and lets more sound through so are almost always noisier, but who cares about that?

:p

unless its a lan rig that you move every other weekend, big fat steel heavy case = quieter and normally cheaper too.
