Just bought these

well i hopefully wotn be spenidng any more money on this setup after its built so it should outlast the 9550 a while longer. Im not definitely overclocking the rig, it was a possiblity as i said in my first post. All depends on how it runs at stock.

Even with a mild overclock to 3.6Ghz you would probably see a worthwhile gain, anything over that and the gains become less noticable, especially with a single graphics card setup.

True. Main thing i want to run is Crysis at a nice resolution. Then far cry 2 and the rest!

Im currently running:

AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition at stock speeds of 2.5ghz
2gb Crucial Ballistix 1066 RAM
700 Arctic Cooling PSU
XFX 8800GT XXX Alpha Dog Edition GPU
Coolermaster Dominator case
Vista Ultimate x32
WD 160gb caviar hdd @ 7200RPM

struggles if im honest with some games and crashes back to Vista desktop but if i ran any games in XP they would just hang the whole system!Once the new parts come in the parts from my current setup will be up for sale.

Something wasn't right with your system then, as that setup should be fine for a reasonable resolution such as 1680x1050 with most games except Crysis :p

tried the other games i was using on my current spec and they were doing the same thing on other systems of the same build!

only errors i was getting was coming from the NVidia drivers for the 8800gt XXX card. But when in windows no problems occurred at all!

You have paid an enormous amount of money for a hugely impressive setup and are only gaming on a 20" monitor at 1680*1050, I game at that resolution with a setup not anywhere near yours and I haven't come across any game that's struggled.

The 'old' spec you posted should have been fine running any game at that res aswell, agree with the others something was wrong.

If I was you I'd get at least a 24" monitor, up the resolution to 1920*1200 and give that system a proper test, it's wasted on anything less than that, especially if you plan on going SLi :p

true!

Although all the parts have just turned up, minus the GTX280 XXX card and the RAM.

COntacted company, the gpu will be with me in a couple of days and contacted the other company about the RAM and they havent had their stock as of yet from OCZ :(

Will get pics of what i have got so far! :D
