Just bought this......

Just keep an eye on the water levels, dont let it drop and yoou shouldn't have to replace the gasket.

Couldnt be arsed to read the actual ebay description, i hate people that write in the biggest font they can find! but looks a good buy for the money you spent.

Annoying, isn't it? If he'd made the auction just a little more legible, he might have got another couple of hundred quid!

Rather nippy little cars! Excellent fuel economy, too, as usual with the K Series. Insurance Group 9 for 0-60 in 8.6 seconds :D

Picking it up tomorrow, so any advice on what I have to check for especially carefully?
In all honesty, head gasket failure :)

Drive it hard then park up with the engine running and watch the temperature guage. Before you do this (while it's cold) check the oil and water for signs of contamination.

Checks it stops well, check for clunks/bangs when cornering hard, vague handling, etc.

Check the aircon works if it has it. Most people will hit you with the "it just needs regassing" crap, don't fall for that :p.

For £820 of course you can't expect it to be perfect but any issues can be used to renegotiate the price in your favour.

That's the thing. Even if there as a head gasket issue in the next few thousand miles, I don't think i'd worry too much considering the price. If it gets me back to bristol in the afternoon I'll be happy.

Its identical to my girlfriends car, bar the colour.

Its reasonably nippy off the line, corners really well, and its very comfortable on long motorway journeys. The only thing I find with it is its a bit lacking in torque in high gears. But then I guess I'm used to a few more ponies ;) All in its a really good little car. Provided its all working, a bargain for what you paid.

Plus I think they're a good looking car. Its visually identical to the Vi bar the badge at the back. When we were looking for a car for the missus I tested a Vi and then this. The difference in power was indistinguishable and this was £100 cheaper on her insurance.

The first day we had ours one of the pipes had been left off. All the coolant dissapeared and the engine seized. Never even saw the temps budge (as there was no water) Thats what warranties are for though. :p
