just breaking, new sven scandal

Not keen on him personally but his record speaks for itself.
He has managed to create what I believe to be the best and most capable England squad of the last twenty years.
As a football manager he is good, as a man he is nieve.
I fail to understand the British press trying to wreck what hope we have of achieveing anything. They did exactly the same for Euro2004 why because he slept with a woman. Give the guy a break. It must be a really bad time for news stories at present if this is how low they are prepared to go. Sven is taking liable action against them i hope he wins.

to be honest, this discussion isnt about sven, its about clubs and the things he said :) could have a big impact in football at the moment, especially when other managers are getting involved in talking about bungs etc

Don't really see why you'd tell your players that you were taking money off transfers. Hard to say which clubs really, doubt it would be arsenal involved, don't think chelsea would need to and united were recently listed on the stock exchange so their books were subject to open audit. not going to really read too much into it just the papers will be full of it for a few days.

from sky sports website

"In discussions in Dubai, Eriksson is reported to have unwittingly told the newspaper of a struggling Premiership outfit who have been taking backhanders.

Still went on further to state that one of English football's most famous clubs have a manager who was involved in a transfer scam, and a further accusation of a club paying over the odds for a player in order to secure backhanders was also reportedly tabled."

I read that earlier and my immediate thoughts were the same as yours, Cheslea (Paying over the odds on Essien and Wright-Phillips?), Newcastle (transfer scam, maybe Boumsong?) and Portsmouth.

Dont read anything to united being on the stock exchange. Agents fees weren't disclosed until recently. Tim Howard and Kleberson transfers ended up with money going everywhere. And Ronaldo was being offered round for £5m before he signed for us for £12m. Coolmore knew this and their famous 99 questions was basically a warning that they will start digging if they didnt get what they wanted.

Chelsea maybe because of Mikel Obi and some other deals, Then Portsmouth as its well know Harry doesnt do everything by the book shall we say.

I don't think the fact united was listed on the stock market would make any difference. The money could be paid to employees of the club and would never appear on the clubs books.

I'm sure he'd have been given the boot, but I feel it will be detrimental to our chances if we have to get a new manager in at this stage of the year.

Do you really believe that getting rid of Sven now will dent any chance we have in the World Cup? As far as i know, the only thing Sven does is pick the team. I heard McClaren took training sessions and i don't see Sven trying to make changes during matches either.

I really don't think we'd miss him if he went now. Lets get rid now and plead Mourinho to take us through the World Cup only. I'm sure he wouldn't say no.

Chelsea pay over the odds because everyone knows they have the brass.

It has to be Souness (fingers and toes crossed) , the amount of money he has put into Rangers' pockets over the years beggars belief.

I read an article in a Scottish paper (cant remember which one) and it was an interview with Murray of Rangers.
In this interview he praised Souness for helping out his club whenever he could by buying his players.
