This is probably the 4th or 5th system in around 10 years I've built. I spent a few weeks reading the boards and ended up ordering:
Dell 2407
E6300 + Scythe Ninja
Gigabyte DS3
2Gb Geil PC6400 C4
8800 GTS
Corsair 520w PSU
Lian Li PC-7
etc.
The first thing that amazed me was, the delivery driver turned up when he was supposed to. I ordered it at 10am friday and it turned up at 11am saturday, both o\c and City link order tracking was flawless. It was then just plain sailing from there...
no bad heatsink contacts - the ninja was easy to install
no issue with the m\b fitting in the case
no faulty memory - I've had 2 dud batches from o\c in the past
no m\b default bios setting problems
no loud psu\cpu\case fans
no wiring problems - you know those little PWR\RESET\SPKR etc connectors that I always get upside down, or the IDE cable not long enough to reach the CDRom
no dead pixels or ghosting
no driver install issues - every component on the m\b works
no overclock issues - I just changed a few bios settings, then put the FSB @ 400 for 2800Ghz and o\clocked the GPU to 600Mhz. I have had not one single crash in orthos or prime and I'm getting around 10,000 in 3dmark06.
The only issue I had was trying to find the overclock setting in the Nvidia 8800 driver set. The drivers are bugged, ntune doesn't work and you have to run a reg hack to see the old overclock menu.
My only remaining problem is now I have this great, stable system and I can't think of a single game to play on it.
