Ive just got caught by a very sneekly placed mobile speed camera going at about 40-50 in a 30 zone :( (not exactly sure of the exact speed because i was just accerating for fun, not continously driving at a high speed.

Im with elephant.co.uk, so any ideas how much my insurance will go up by (currently £750), and also how long will the points stay on my licence?

Yep my first set of point after 3 years of driving :(

So I will be 25 before all traces of my points have gone!! thats ridiculous

accelerating for fun.. .. .. you deserve it, mabe you will learn to leave the accelerating for fun in a safe place without accelerating faster than the speed limit for that road.

I see what you are saying, but it was a pretty empty two carriage road, in a non-residential area... The camera was there because it is easy to speed, and so easy money for them.

Like i said in another thread, i'm with Elephant added 30% to my insurance.

wtf so my insurance is gonna hit £1k :(

Its been less than 14 days since ive insured with elephant, so i suppose I could cancel before the 14 day cooling period if they add that much assuming I get my fine soonish?

Just do another quote now but add the points on and see how it looks?

Good idea!

Ive just done it, and its £870 from £750, 14% increase, which is isnt that bad.

Here's hoping ive not been caught over 45, or I may have to go to court, facing a possible ban = end of my driving career for the next 5 years!
