Just Cause demo out!

Whatever...

For ****s sake, get over yourself. It's a demo. Ever thought that you may be getting poor performance due to that? I notice you have one of the dual GPU cards - which makes it sorta like SLi (do these cards have more problems though) - for all you know there's an issue with SLi. Maybe it just doesn't like your hardware configuration?

I totally agree, just because it doesn't run great on one persons rig, doesn't mean it won't run good on another.

yeah i agree i was looking forward to this but looking at the vids looks rubbish tbh.

i will keep playing boiling point loads of bugs but atleast it aint stupid...i mean come on jumping that high hahaha onto a chopper yeah ok looks good not.

some will like it not trying to upset those who do fair play im just abit gutted thats all.

this games looks absurd, but fun, flinging your body round like a ragdoll, as strong and as durable as spiderman, being able to jump through propellers, mad!

Been playing the demo over and over. Its not such a bad game, very arcadey but makes for some fun playing.

There are a number of different ways to approach the demo missions, for example, the first time I had to go and steal the helicopter I approached by car, after exploring I found a cliff that I could drive off and then parachute down to the helicopter, after which I jumped into the enemies copter as he was flying away, pushed him out and turned round and blasted him to hell with his own get away copter. Inspired and very fun to do.

The graphics are excellent although bloom is used way to much, and the characters textures are very poor, but then this game will be released for the ps2 aswell. When flying highing up the graphics look a lot better, with a decent draw distance.

The cars all feel different with some being very difficult to drive. The thing this game really has going for it is diveristy. One minuted your flying a copter the next your speeding away on a boat. If the final game can keep up with the diiferent styles then I'll be buying this game, and with previews showing the player flying f16 or some other jet plane then the game looks very promising.

Overall I rate the demo 7.5 out of 10. It could be so much yet is let down by simple AI and bad character textures, something to keep us all busy while we wait for crysis to come out :D

I can't even run the demo.

As soon as i load it up, i get the loading screen, then within 2 seconds, i get booted back to the desktop, telling me that the program has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Clicking 'Don't Send' Gives me a "memory could not be 'read', click 'OK' to terminate the program" error.

Any thoughts?

Same problem here :(

OK

Well for one it runs very smooth. didnt notice any hicups

i found the the gun fighting a lil clunky, other than that though, besides bikes being over sensitive. i actually enjoyed it and found myself enjoying the bits in the cars, n bikes and hanging from the tail of a helicopter, sky diving, muff diving........scratch that last one.

i think it will be one of those games where its not amazing, but yeah will make u smile from time to time enough to play it through.

Just been playing around a little with it. I found it fairly enjoyable, seems like the sort of game where I could see myself stuffing around for hours just driving, killing people, blowing things up etc.

Didn’t blow me away but I will probably pick it up when it gets cheap.

just tried the demo on xbox 360 and I'm not that impressed; the only thing going for it is the graphics and the size of the world and the graphics aren't amazing, they're good but some things look a bit poorly textured, the environments are beautiful though.

Without the graphics and the size of the world this game is extremely poor in my opinion, the cars drive all the same and it's very arcadey, the just slide along slowly getting faster. The character animations are quite bad and the main character runs like he's just been kicked in the nads.

The gunslinging is okay but i swear my cat could play this game and not die in a gun fight, the guns are varied but there seems to be no incentive to use different guns; his handguns are actually better than a machine gun.

Don't even get me started on his seemingly supernatural acrobatic abilities, he can jump around like spiderman, even through helicopter blades, he can jump from one car to another nomatter the speed of the cars involved, the second you remove your foot from one car at 100mph the car in front or behind you will be 20 feet in front of you but in this game when you jump from one car time apparently stops still for you to land on the opposite car.

Also, one thing I'm confused about is.... how the hell can you drive a car when you're standing on the roof?! Ahhhhhhhhhh.

Also, the parachute thing; apparently if you pull your parachute 10 feet in the air it will still save you from splatting!

Overall, unless they fix the unrealism that is Just Cause I'm going to buy a copy so I can fling it under our car.

I found that disabling DEP on the game file made the game run for me.

Go to control Panel>System>Advanced>Performance Options>Data Execution Prevention.

Make sure its disabled for the demos .exe file.

Try that and let me know ;)

I got it to work after updating sound card drivers and reinstalling the demo.

Not sure which one did the trick, but either way, it works now.

Only a few comments on the demo:

How can it be possible to get shot hundreds of times and not die, yet as soon as you get so much as touched by a moving car, 90% of your health just disappears?

The camera while you drive is awful, not to mention the handling of the cars themselves.

Just had a quick run through the demo and enjoyed it muchly :) Love the oncoming waves of enemies, reminds me of serious sam a little in that sense. Great fun to be had, nice and diverse and essentially a no brainer ott shooter. Lol @ complaints of lack of realism!
