Just Cause

very buggy game. you can just off a plane and then press e after fell far and it will jump into the pilot seat again. Seems like was made for console really. Cars are rubbish to control.

If you can pick it up in bargin bin for cheap worth a laugh but not very long term fun.

i bought this, it's fun and ridiculous, good way to clear the head inbetween the seriousness of CoH. however, it is very consoley, the graphics are poor, no out the box widescreen support (max res of 1280x1024 unless i can't find out how to change it - don't laugh i couldn't find it in TW2006 for a week).

the water is crap, so bad in fact that i can't tell when i'm in it and when i'm not, consequently any boat i get tends to end up beached on the shoreline. i can see right through the water (there is none in effect, just the bottom of the sea) and can sort of see the waves but that's it. i post a screenie, maybe i've doen something wrong - but this is on all detail levels.

also, it runs fine with everything on high for about and hour or 2, then the choppiness starts, getting progressively worse until i have to restart the game whereupon it's fine again. oh, another thing, you can take about a million bullets and live, yet as soon as you get runover - pretty much instant death. very annoying, especially in the middle of missions.

it's ok, and fun, but let down by some silly annoyances.

Again, my feelings are that they have produced a game with the potential to be excellent but have tried to keep the console croud happy and really spoilt it.

Just completed this, bit late to the party as I got it in a Eidos compilation pack I bought off Steam a while back. Here's my take on it:

-Graphically the environments are impressive for a 2006 game, the foilage, sunset, water etc all looks lovely and tropical. Good job for such a big gameworld.
-Sadly this doesn't extend to the character animations, which are fairly clunky - very GTA3
-Gameplay wise I was tempted to say it is similar to GTA:SA, but that's probably being a bit generous. More like Wheelman crossed with Boiling Point: The Road to Hell.
-Aircraft are fun to fly, somehow they've made the control system a bit better than the GTA games
-Vehicle physics are a bit weird, you seem to have too much grip but then when in the air you float around like the car is made of cardboard.
-I quite like the way you can take stunt positions and jump around between vehicles etc, but I can't help but feel it is underused a little (compared to say Wheelman). They should have maybe done more of a tutorial teaching you how to use it.
-Combat is fairly lacklustre, all a bit 1990s really.
-It's a fairly blatant console port, right down to the inability to change mouse sensitivity  through to needing to use a hack to get 1680x1050 resolution.
-Good job with the skydiving.
-The side missions seem very repetitive and tiresome, I did a few at the start but then gave up and just waded through the storyline missions.

What I find somewhat surprising is the positive reviews this got, 75% on Metacritic including over 80% from both PCZ/PCG. So I guess my question is, if I'm not overly enamored wth JC, should I consider JC2 if it comes down in price, or is it just more of the same?

Just Cause 2 is miles miles miles better than the first HT. Without doubt it was the most fun game ive played on the PC in a good few years. Ball all accounts, its going to be 50% off at 6pm today according to the devs!

It's more of the same, kind of, but imagine JC had the dial set to 3. JC2 takes it to 11 :)

It's so much better than the original in every way, and blows away all other open-world create-chaos type games.
