Well as above really! How much oil will be required to get it to a safe level again?

Car is a Mondeo ST24, which, I believe when low on oil is quite easy to starve the sump just by going around some corners! So this is quite urgent :P

I recommend this cut out and keep reference guide:

Put a bit in at a time and see what happens, better doing it this way than just chucking in 1 litre with your fingers crossed.

Oh and check it more often ;)

Most cars it's a litre between the Min and the Max.

Well ok, every car buff has told me it's a litre on EVERY car, but on my car it isn't. But my car was made in a backward third world country.

Iirc its about 5 litres for a DAF XF HGV, a lot of the drivers at work only seem to add a litre - if anything at all!

Each car will certainly differ, but, 1 litre is a pretty safe bet and iirc the reason you get 1litre top up cans. :)

Fair enough. I've always had it drummed into me that max = max when it comes to oil :)

I make you right mate, Don't know about these days but old Fords used to die if over filled as it would block the breathers up etc
The line is there for a reason & I really have no time for people that make there Own mind up about such things.
To me it's like gaffer taping a petrol can to your rear quarter as you think there is not enough petrol in the tank when full. :p
