Just de lidded my 3770k

I'm considering doing this with mine after the initial test. How well does the lid go back on afterwards. Is it just a case of the heatsink holding it down?

CPU Cooler H100, 10 mins of prime @ 4.8GHz, Liquid pro on CPU and IHS (UNCURED!)

So this is the knife i bought -

it has a very thin blade but still there was only one corner i could get it under to begin with, once it was under i down to the next corner, to the next, to the next.

This were my tools of mass destruction! lol

This is what it looked like once i got the lid off but thats not the end of it

This is what it looked like after a long time spent cleaning it, the silicon is a biznitch to get off the IHS

I used my finger nails to clean off the silicon, it was too dodgy with the knife, it just took a while ;)

If you take a look at where the notch is for the socket locator, notice i did nip the pcb :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

luckily it was the very edge!

4.9GHz and 5GHz is out of my reach, not the temps thou, its the volts, 4.9GHz @ 1.48v crashed prime after 5 mins, temps were 71c!!!!

I cannot get over how good the liquid pro is and the de lidding!!

OMG if only you could use 1.5v 24/7, my temps still in the 70s 82c top!!

just proves how much of a fail intel did with its tim, if they soldered i bet everyone would be running 5GHz ish

eyetrip had 4.9GHz @ 1.288v imagine if he had not killed it!! 5.3GHz easy
