Hi,

I'm just at the end of setting up all my drives that came in the post today.

Just formatting my 500GB drive now for use as storage (it was my OS drive before I got my new drives). In the little format dialog box the allocation size was at 4096 (it sets it to whatever the drive is on at the moment) which isn't default.

I set it back to default, of course, but I'm just wondering why on earth it was at 4096 to start with . The only format it's ever had is the Windows setup one.

Craig.

Windows was right in doing that as the default cluster size for ntfs partitions larger than 2 GB is 4 KB (4096 bytes).

Sticking it on default instead will have achieved the same result.
