Noise = power you know ;).

Welcome to the 360 world!

Bought one today as well, premium + GoW LE, CoD 3, Dead Rising and Blazing Angels for £339.99. Shame about Blazing Angels, was a choice of 5 games and PGR3 was out of stock. Though I haven't tried it yet so it could've been a good choice after all :p

Well chuffed so far, GoW and CoD3 are breathtaking

Good call on Amped 3, a lot of people aren't impressed because it's not "next-gen" enough... Rubbish reason though! I love the wacky cutscenes and quirky additions, think it is an excellent game!

wow so there are at least three of us who got one this weekend. I picked up mine yesterday. Love it so far! Got Rockstar table tennis, PGR3, Dead Rising, and Gears of War. Also bought the Advanced AV cable and got a free extra controller thrown in. Al for £372.00. Not bad for all that.

Bought it for Gears and all I can say is - wow!

My only disapointment with the system is that it requires a hub to connect to LIVE! I thought that it might have had a built in modem at least. Oh well. I can't afford a hub until next year really so won't be on LIVE! until the new year.

You connect straight from a cable modem into your Xbox360... So it doesn't need a hub (router) to play online...

Maybe he has ADSL and is using a USB ADSL modem :)

Bingo - yes I do. No way of connecting a USB modem to the machine and even if you could - drivers? Why they didn't put an internal modem in it I do not know. Not a major issue but still, it could not have been to hard could it?

You can get a wired router for less than £25.. what are you waiting for! http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-001-BI

Don't know how these things work. I currently connect my PC via a single USB ADSL modem. Would I then have to connect my PC to the hub and ditch the USB modem?

I gather that I would connect my PC to this using a ethernet cable?

I only tend to research technology when I go to buy it so excuse my ignorance with this stuff.

My current connection is about 7Mb/sec - will this modem maintain that connection speed?

BTW - what is SOHO?

A router is much better than a modem for ADSL, even if you only connect your computer to it and nothing else, like me. Yes it will maintain your current speed.

Basically you connect a cable from the phone socket to the router, then connect to the 360 and to your PC's network card via ethernet cables. Yes, the router replaces your modem, you can bin it which is the best place for them ;)

The big advantage of a router over a USB modem is that it is 'always on' so you don't have to 'dial-up' or connect to it, every time you boot into Windows. Windows sees it as a LAN connection.

A router is by far the best solution. The only complicated bit will be putting in all the settings so connects like your modem. That's easy though and you'll get plenty of help on here if you have any questions.

With a router you'll get the advantage of having the 360 and your PC connected as well, opening up all the media sharing functionality :)

hi sorry to hijack, but i think i understand all of the above connectivity settings. I have router which my 2 pcs are wired in and wirefree lappies connect to. I want to buy a 360 for the family for christmas so i will be able to use my router,? yes, although living in the sticks i can only get a 512mb connection, that sucks a** i know.
Secondly any recommendations, would that be classed as competitors, i dont think so, for the best vfm package atm for a 360, i am looking online atm.

You can connect the 360 fine via ethernet to a router. You can also buy the wireless adapte, though a little expensive, and have it connected wirelessly.

Best package, I'm not sure these days, but get the premium, most good bundles these days come with an extra wireless controller and 2 games for <£300. Just have a browse of places.
