Just got a Canon 350d.....

everyone always raves about battery grips. i don't understand why. they to me, just seem to make the camera bulky and unblanced?

IMO it actually helps balance the camera. With a flash gun mounted, my 350D feels top heavy and unbalanced. Don't really care about the camera's size either - It's not exactly pocketable either way so it's always on a neck strap or in a bag.

ahh now, if that had been posted - it makes more sense.

I don't use a flashgun, therefore couldnt see the point of the battery grip (hence selling the thing!)

the xxD are better balanced than the XXXD range of cameras - my little fiinger simply just doesnt have anywhere to grip the camera without the grip.
I do like shooting portraits so its nice not having to move from the eye peice to adjust settings! I beleive the XXD buttons are on top next to the screen which the XXXD lacks.

Woah at the two lenses, how much did those set you back?:p

Still trying to get to grips with the camera, think I will need to read the manual as it seems pretty hard to use it by just playing around with it.Ordered a 4gb CF,waiting for it to come now. Was bored last night so was looking at lenses and saw a Canon EF 75-300 III F4-5.6 USM Lens going for £140. Is that how much they go for?How are they for quality and what type of shots are these for?(not thinking of buying it but just wanted to learn about lenses and type. If anyone has any website that teaches you about different types of lenses and the uses are please link me.:))
