got my self an opteron 165 for 190 including p&p (paying for the steping) the steping is OSA162DAA6CD CCBBE 0610DPMW 143478AC60629 from what i read most peeps on this steping have been getting 2.7/2.8ghz on stock volts , do you think 3 or 3.1ghz on watercooling is a good goal (storm block d5 pump and PA120.3 rad) , my x2 3800 was /is a poor clocker even on my setup only getting 2.5gz with 1.55v on water! even that was'nt prime stable but gamming stable

i'm a little worried i hit the FSB limit on my DFI SLI DR but i have a Forcestake (can;t remmber now lol) which is a large coper heatpipe chipset cooler with a low RPM 120mm fan over it (660RPM) underload dos'nt get much higher than 42c which i hope it helps

not got the CPU yet lol buts its on its way some DFI seems to top out at 315fsb ish which would give me 2.825ghz to get 3ghz or 3.1ghz i would need 334fb and 345fsb which some other DFI sli-DR's have done , but only running a single x1900xt (watercooled as well) and extra cooling on the chipset and power regulators heatsinks i hope i won't hit a brick wall with the motherbaod hole reason i went for this cpu and not a 6600 is the cost of platform change which is not good for a student saving for G80/R600 lol

i'll find out tommor when i pop the chip in , Cooling is there (watercooling , better chipset and PWMIC cooling) good ram (im runnig Cas2.5 at 250mhz on Corsair 2gb PC3500LL pro ram) . as soon as i get to rig i do some steady clocking frist step will be 2.5ghz on stock volts then 2.7ghz then 2.9 with abit extra volts and then after a few hours of gaming i try 3ghz

My 165 hits 2.7ghz under water (poor stepping but according to reviews it's better than the expected 2.5-2.6ghz for that stepping). But for your stepping:

CCBBE 0610DPMW (most consistent for 3GHz +)

So nice one :)
