Just got a PS3....

If you get plus, turn auto updates on.

Also if your happy with having your ps3 turn on for two hours through the night/early morning you can let the games download then rather than having to wait for the download to finish.
took me 8 hours to download InFamous 2 and 5 hours to download Journey, Jak and Daxter 1 and 2 and an install time of 12 minutes for Jak 2  christ knows what it will be for InFamous 2....

Some good exclusives on the PS3, worth playing them all, really. After that it's just 3rd party games relevant to your interests :)
Also another vote for getting PS plus for the free games (free while you have a subscription, at least) you can get PS network cards a bit cheaper from electronicfirst.com so it will work out less than £40 a year.

This is one of the reasons why the PS3 sucks compared to the 360. Updates are ridiculous in size, take forever to download and install and in some games you have to download older pathes first so when Id bought Little Big Planet once it had to download and install 3 seperate patches before I could play.

Unfortunately the PS3 has major issues for me. I do love the games on both and I love both systems but my issues with the PS3 way out way the 360 issues.

Oooo talking of Little Big Planet get that. They are amazing games

Lol try installing GT5 on a brand new ps3, set aside like 3 days

Batman Arkham Aslyum & Arkham City
Farcry 2
Guitar Hero world tour (cheap now)

If you can get it for nothing, or very little, or even better rent, then play Heavenly Sword.

Try the Yakuza series of games since they are PlayStation exclusives.

On the PS3 there is Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4 and even Yakuza: Dead Souls, which is more of a spin-off title but still fun. There's also Kenzan and a PSP title, but they are Japan-only.

All are action adventure games with slight RPG elements and old school beat'em gameplay. The stories are incredibly deep, intense, and portray the Japanese criminal underworld in both a realistic way in terms of the politics involved and also an over-the-top flare to some ridiculous nonsense.

With news that SEGA will be releasing HD remastered versions of Yakuza 1 & 2 from the PS2 for download, so far Japan only but they definitely gotta localise them for the West, the entire main series will practically be on the PS3. And of course you have Yakuza 5 coming too.

Farcry 2 in a nutshell - Drive here and shoot someone/destroy something -> Encounter checkpoint where you get attacked, despite clearing that checkpoint out not 10 minutes ago. (how did they even know you were an enemy?) -> repeat depending on how far away the mission is -> once you arrive at the main mission -> you will approach stealthily, hundreds of metres away crouched in the long grass you survey the scene -> move 0.2 metres forward to get that bit of grass out of your vision, OH NO THEYVE SOMEHOW MAGICALLY SEEN YOU -> go on rampage while battling symptoms of malaria -> Once mission is complete, drive back through all the checkpoints which have respawned.

Repeat for every single mission in the game. But hey, it looked nice.

lol I hated this game managed about 5 missions before giving up.

purchase the ps+ for 12 months .. free games to play and enjoy , and discounts on others :)

+1

Was going to suggest this myself until I read your post. They're pushing an 'always 10 free games to play' promotion at the moment (probably carrying it on into the future too) so well worth it. Deus Ex: HR is still up there for free I think, and that's part RPG :p. And is also an amazing game too :)
