Just got an email off o2...

Now I'm in a position to be able to afford phones outright I'll be switching to a rolling monthly SIM deal once this contract is up, there's no point in tying yourself up for 2 years anymore.

Well looks like I'll be moving away from o2 soon, it's a shame because I use the o2 moments quite a bit!

That is ofcourse, unless they have some better data deals further down the line.

This is why I stay PAYG, £15 a month with Three unlimited data thank you very much.

Same for me. Especially as I don't feel the need to upgrade my phone much asiI never play graphical games

I was on o2 before and had a few issues cancelling contract. Wasn'timpressed overall tTbh. Especially with 3g, data limits and customer service

Had my phone a good while now and see nothing I like better. As I choose on design, features and battery as opposed to cpu /gpu etc

I am confused. My missus just got this price rise e-mail. Into contract circa 6 months. What are her options? If this only retrospectively applies to new contracts, offcom are the powerless, waste of space cowards I always suspected.

It's just another nail in the O2 coffin as far as I'm concerned, the coverage around where I live is shocking, 4G is none existent and their customer service is the worst I've ever had the displeasure of using. I still have 11 months left with them :(

Her options are accept the rise, or cancel the contract and pay the remaining months off.

I have nothing but the utmost loathing for this telco and it started when they sold out their broadband business to Sky.

4G rollout has been terrible unless you live in London or one of the core 8 cities (what a surprise though Bristol is omitted), if I had it way Ofcom would set the roadmap and not the operator. O2 have been completely biased against the South West of England.

I honestly can't wait to leave.

Likewise and i'm on their bloody staff plan. (left the company about 7 months ago) :(

My contract ends in December, I think I'm done with them to be honest. Most likely just move over to PAYG with my iPhone 5. Switching phones on a monthly/yearly basis has worn off on me.

No longer really bothered about having the latest handset, not till something drastically happens with the phones coming out. It's gone all stale for me.

me and GF have both left, data coverage is shocking

O2 won't last much longer anyway. You only have to look at Telefonica's share price...

I suspect they'll be bought out by somebody like Three (like what has happened in Ireland), then maybe their customers will get a decent service.

if three could grab o2s 2G signal that would be perfect. :p
Three really must be taking chunks out of the others, i know OCUK isnt really representative of the general population

Public companies aren't ever going to be satisfied with a loss in profit. If they can't increase the price of a contract over its set period they'll just make it more expensive to begin with.

Regulation on things we don't need is so dumb.

Which is fair enough - you sign a contract to pay X amount for 24 months, I don't think anyone's got a problem with that.

It becomes an issue when you sign a contract to pay X amount for 24 months, but hidden in the small print somewhere it actually gives them permission to charge you X for 2 months and X + Y for 22 months.

Do you think the mobile provider would be happy for you to turn round and say "well, my other living costs have increased, so I'm going to reduce how much I pay for my contract so I can afford to pay my other bills"?
