hey guys im starting a new build gaming pc, my corsair CX750M just arrived today, i didn't realize it was semi modular until i opened box, i hear semi modular is the way to go... whats your guys opinions?? its my first post btw.

Whoever told you that is a Corsair fan boy. Their CX and VS series psu's are just overpriced budget units with cheap internal components. There are far better psu's available.

+1. Absolutely terrible PSU's from Corsiar, the CX and VS range. I wouldn't trust it to run any decent GPU.

I'd recommend returning it and getting a Superflower or Seasonic for sure.

Years ago it used to be that Corsair PSUs were great, but in the past 5 years or so they've abused all the recommendations to launch cheap tat.

Their higher-end models are still decent, but at the low end don't bother.

As much as I like Corsair, the above is unfortunately true all the way. :(

It's clear corsair units are not what they were, but a friend of mine has ran his Haswell system overclocked with 2 X 980's for near a year with no trouble at all. It's your decision but I doubt you'll run into any problems really.

This would be when they we're Seasonics rebadged as Corsair, once they swapped them to the lower quality manufacturers was a big nope for me. Next build after this happened I went for an XFX (got a decent deal where it came with the case iirc) now I just went direct to a Seasonic, no confusion over who is manufacturer then...

my vs350 runs my i3 4160, 8gb ram, gtx 750 non ti(ive overclocked it also), 1tb hard drive plus optical and couple fans just fine, while its a prebuilt from shop ive only had it nearly 3 months and hasnt missed a beat or anything even after leaving on for days, mean im not saying its the be and end all, just your statement isnt entirely true ;)

It's not about being able to run a system, most PSUs will do that, even cheap Chinese jobbies. It's about what happens if the PSU lets go, and what likelihood there is of the PSU letting go

i know that, just saying not all are bad and in my experience i havent had anything fail on me due to psu, mean i had smoke coming from one board at the power port, but the board was faulty anyways as i later found out from a better psu and the psu i orginally used chose when to work and survived overclocking and gaming..

like with cars you get luck of the draw so to speak, i had a 02 toyota corolla t sport and while they have top notch reliability my one wasnt the best of examples and cost too much to maintain, so best isnt always the best.

Having read this post i am now a bit worried.
I just bought a corsair rm750i as i was told it was one of the best that i could get. have i made a mistake
