Just got my new corsair cx750m

It's not about being able to run a system, most PSUs will do that, even cheap Chinese jobbies. It's about what happens if the PSU lets go, and what likelihood there is of the PSU letting go

My Silverstone Zeus ST75ZF 750W bought the farm last week. http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=25

It was idling at the desktop then heard an almighty pop while away having dinner. I've had it since 2008 and was only used once until regular use from 2010. I was surprised it never tripped the circuit breaker or completely shutdown. As I came through right away once I heard it and saw the login screen. Shut it down right away as there was a lovely burnt electrical aroma.

The rest of the hardware appears fine. No marks or such back and front of the motherboard.

Sadly to this day I cannot see anything obvious unless I open up the PSU. As that night the burnt smell was so strong from the grill vent.

True, I won't say that any good unit won't have problems, because it's not true - but the chance is higher with a lower quality unit of dieing + taking out components with it

Yer £95 did feel a bit much for a PSU but i was pushed in that direction

£95 ain't actually that bad
