just got new HDD need advice!

hey guys.. after having the same IDE 200 gig HDD for 6 years i finally decided to replace it! i got a samsung F3!

it just came today and i have a couple of questions!

1) is there any setup i need to do in BIOS or anything other then literally plug and play?

2) should i partition my HDD ? (want it to be as smooth and fast as possible!) if so how should i partition it? and how do i even partition it? can i do it when installing my OS? (Windows 7)

If this disk is going to be used as the OS disk then I'd create a partition on it for the OS, makes reinstalls much easier should a reformat be required. Use the remaining space for your data.

no setup needed in the BIOS and it's plug and play.

just make a small partition for OS and the rest for storage purpose.
