Just got the mega sexy HP DV2699

Saw it at work today and did abit of reading when I got in and the reviews it got where very nice so bought one. Very impressed with the case design which has some serious quality put into it, to those who havent seen a current DV2699 HP laptop its a special edition with a painted tattoo effect in a few weird colours all over it, including the touchpad and around the keyboard + back of lcd.

Get a matching mouse and sleeve with the same design and the mouse has a usb stick which hides at the base of it and even comes with a carry pouch. Biometric reader as standard and the spec is pretty damn quick.

7500 core 2 duo - 2.2ghz
2gb DDR2
8400 GT 64mb
250gb Hard drive
13 inch screen - 1280x800 res
is a centrino duo lappy

Got loads of lovely neon blue lights on it and a lot of the controls react to touch including the volume control which you slide your finger across to the quick play menu buttons. Get a nifty remote control which hides away in the PCMIA socket and the laptop has a HDMI output which gives one hell of a picture on my 40 inch samsung tele. Well impressed!

That looks very, very nice indeed. Impressive spec too. Seems like HP's take on the 13" premium notebooks that are around at the moment, like the Dell XPS M1330. Hopefully getting my 1330 soon, so I'll be part of the 13" club too.

Are you sure thats not an 8400GS? 64mb suggests it is a turbocache GPU and the GT always has dedicated memory (128MB or more).

yeah these are nice and very stylish but its 14" screen and video is 8400 gs around £800-900 mark

Turbocache. Only has 64MB 64bit memory and uses more during 3D applications. Probably the cheapest way of the OEM complying with the Aero requirements (apart from using GMA900 that is).

There are often multiple variants of the GPU. In the case of laptops the OEM can modify the memory configuration.

well unless they have some other 8400m gs i'd say yes, if my vostro is some turbocache POS can i sue dell for lying to me ?

The GT is 128bit, the GS is 64bit. Are you sure GPU-Z isn't giving you a bad reading?

Like I said, HP etc can change the memory configuration, so its not impossible for them to have 128bit memory, but it seems unlikely on the budget GS...
