Well i intend to find out.

i am asking for donations of either money or a high output delta fan, to do some experiments with.

i want to see what kind of things a delta can break or snap (pencil, rulers etc etc)

and what it take to destroy a delta at full speed (a screwdriver or metal objects)

to add another element to it, i will be using a Q-Tec power supply to do the experiments,

Any takers/ Suggestions?

Just how dangerous is Q-tec + Delta

Donated so Far.

1x 120mm Delta fan - Donated by harris1986
1x 80mm Vantec tornado fan - Donated by harris1986

Possible Scenarios

touching centre of the fan see if it will create enough friction to light a match

Jam a packet of polos in

throw coins at it

put a carrot through it

Polystyrene through a fan is fun, you know the packing you get with large equipment, well, point the air flow at someone then shred the polystyrene so it blows the little bits at them, the static electricity produced doing this makes the polystyrene bits stick to the unfortunate victim who is then unable to brush them off or pick them off as they just keep sticking back to them.

to dangerous to even consider, it will overload the q-tec straight away, i hope you are using the 650w triple fan gold plated version as i think it may just be powerfull enough to power the fan for a few seconds before exploding and taking out every other q-tec in a 6 mile radius

This is the most exciting thing I did with my Delta. Tried shredding paper with it with the aim of a stream of paper shreds shooting out the back but it didn't work :( .

I can't help with the donations, but my sisters' boyfriend bought an 80mm Delta a few years ago.

I was over at their house the other week, noticed the fan on his desk and asked him how one of the fan blades had broken.

Him - "Ah yeah, I stuck my finger in it while it was on"

Me - "And you still have your finger? How the hell did that happen"

He gets a  from me.

lol. Risky with the Qtec. ;)

Can we have a list of things We want to see put in there.

I'd like to see if touching centre of the fan (approx) will create enough friction to light a match ;)

Jam a packet of polos in

throw coins at it then duck

a finger :p

Hah. I did the same thing a few weeks ago, I was cleaning the dust out my case with it (the only real use I have for it lol) and managed to get the tip of my pinkie caught inside. Didn't hurt at first and looked ok, just a bit red, but a few seconds later blood started spurting from the middle of the nail and I realised it was almost split if half! The second I put it under the cold tap it was seriously painful for a long time after and my fingernail still looks manky today! Lesson...DON'T PLAY WITH DELTAS...they are forged in hell! :p

How much is the one you're looking?

You should buy as many as it takes to lift your tower completely off the ground.

I think that's a scenario that would be good.

deltas won't do nothing...the fan motor has practically no torque and a human finger, polo, coin, etc are far to tough to be damaged by something that'll stop as soon as you touch it, plus the fan blades themselves weigh next to nothing meaning they have little mass, thus meaning little energy when hitting something. howabout how much damage can i do with a microwave, always potentially explosive... ;)
