Just How Powerfull are Deltas *With a Twist*

Do it after some of the first tests, It will probably weaken the edge of the blade by sharpening it, then they will fail :(

I actualy wanted a Delta fan for my pc, shame the OP Didn't see my wanted thread in the MM A few weeks back :(

from what ive heard about the noise and how leathal these fans are, i dont think they are pheasable as a pc fan, unless its a server kept in a loft or something, iirc some guy said he could hear his fan ouside his apartement door with it closed.

i have 2 panaflo's and i can hear them pretty much anywhere in my house with all doors open. and thats quite bad. and delta's are 10dB louder.

yeah using a dremel or something to sharpen the blade edges of should increase the energy when it hits something, but you'd be better off using a more torque motor or heavier blades, its like saying this, can you kill someone with a BB gun? i seriously don't think so as the ball isn't massive enough and its not travelling with enough kinetic energy, its blunt 'ball' shape distributes the energy a lot on impact, put a cone in the same gun and you might pierce the skin :p don't forget F=MA, force (energy) = mass x acceleration (or velocity), in other words say for the sake of argument you had a blade weighing 1/10 of a kg, and it was moving 5ms/s the force in newtons upon impact would only be 0.5 newtons, see where this is going, the blades have niether the mass or the small surface area on the leading edge needed to create any serious energy upon impact, plus the motor doesn't have enough torque to move the blades when your finger is stuck in it :p

i got a 60mm 7000rpm delta and the 8cm 80cfm delta screamer, and i can tell you this: there is no way that these fans will cut through bone, unless you got arthiritis or something.

holy mother mary, 8cm fan pushing 80!cfm of air, thats biblical!

should be simple with how much there forcing out, i mean holy god thats immense amount of air, as i said 'BIBLICAL', you could create a new star with that sort of power, more than one and your teetering on making some sort of supermassive black hole, crazy

use it in a murder, imagine the forensics trying to explain just how you killed someone with a computer fan :p

Ermm whatever happened to the shredding of things with the Donated fans ?

EDIT : Steve didn't ever recieve the fans

Should be looking at 240v fans really, they'll have more torque than 12v fans.

If I stick my manhood into it the blades will snap and I'll feel no pain. I'm that tough..grrr :p

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL !!!!

I managed to put my finger and thumb into the massive 80cm delta that OcUK used to sell. Almost took off the end of my thumb and I had a deep gash in my index finger... really really hurt... two of the blades snapped off in the process though :( so at least I wasn't the only one that got hurt :p

Flesh deep certainly, I reckon a Delta would seriously mangle a finger tip if you stuck one in. The blades are pretty sharp and and the hub is wieghty.

I might get the camera out again...

brother stuck his finger into a delta and had to have stitches

I think I have a 60mm Delta somewhere from my Athlon AXIA :)

Amazing little fan, very noisy tho :( if you put it on a flat surface (desk) and power it on it seems to float lol :) some real power behind it. It got on my nerves tho so I took it out and put it in my spares box.
