Hi so I've got a 5600x with a B550 board, Windows booted up thankfully. Windows update installed some AMD drivers/firmware. I enabled XMP in the BIOS so my memory is running at it's advertised speed.

I downloaded Ryzen Master and created a profile then enabled PBO. It seems to peak at 4.65ghz all core. I think this is decent with a mid range air cooler?

I was wondering is there anything else I need to change in the BIOS or anything else I need to download to make the most out of this new setup?

Thank you!

Sounds good in all honesty. Newest chipset drivers might be worth a shout (AMD website), and keep an eye out for bios updates with new AGESA versions which should improve boosting behaviours etc.

Other than that it just depends how much tweaking you want to do with pushing the RAM speeds and timings or undervolting. If you are running at 3200, it might be worth playing around to get to 3600 for example.

Yeah I downloaded and installed those from the website and I did the bios flash to the latest version there too.

I'm running a 3600/cl16 set and it's running at the correct speed and timings.

Good to know thank mate

So is PBO worth enabling now? I havent bothered with it previously because a lot of people said its not worth it but not sure if that still applies on the new gen

Also worth looking at your Windows Power Plan, I've read some saying on the new Gen of Ryzen CPUs to disabled it but not sure how true that is

Yeah on the previous Ryzen which I have you need a Ryzen Power plan. I'm sure it will be the same with the 5000s

Before I enabled PBO I think it was peaking at 4.55ghz all core, so 100mhz jump, nothing major really, not going to notice it.

Windows power plan is still set to ultimate performance, should I be seeing a Ryzen power plan with the 5600x?

I've not been able to get the power plan either.

Reading up, I came to the conclusion the 5000 doesn't need it. I'm currently on balanced in Windows.
(Ultimate used to make my 6700k run at max and never downclock. Not sure if Ryzen would be the same)

Not to hijack, but the same as op.

I set auto oc in Ryzen Master. Would that enable pbo, or is that something I need to do manually.
The only change I noticed was my max boost says 5050 now.
My fabric is at 1000, is that normal for default?

Is this a common thing to do?
It's not common, Spread spectrum helps with stability and CSM disabled forces the bios to use the full UEFI instead of any legacy modes, various reports on it speeding up boot times, but you seem ok with how its going so far.

It's normal if you're running the RAM at 2000mhz or default settings. If you are running 3200mhz RAM like you should be, it should be at 1600, for 3800mhz RAM its 1800 IF and so on. They should be linked 1:1 (RAM speed is given as the double data rate or DDR, half it then compare with your IF)

To clarify, I mean, is it normal that Master doesn't change it for me? I assumed auto oc would change it to match ram. I'm on 3200

I will look into it and give it a go cheers
